7) Mushroom vs. Bundy K. Brown vs. Faust vs. Gary Floyd: Compared To What vinyl LP
(Weed Records, Berkeley, CA)
released September 2000.
1st pressing of 1000 copies on 180 gram green vinyl, 2nd pressing of 250 copies on
180 gram red vinyl, plus slightly different artwork on the back cover.
Despite some record stores filing this under various artists, this is not a compilation
but a Mushroom release with help and input from various friends and family.
Recorded at various times and places, these are new recordings by Mushroom
featuring remixes by Bundy K. Brown of Tortoise & Gastr del Sol, Hans Joachim Irmler of
Krautrock legends Faust, Quintus Kannegiesser from the Offenbach Sound Foundation,
and Gary Floyd of Sister Double Happiness singing the Les McCann/Eddie Harris
title cut.
8) Mushroom vs. Bundy K. Brown vs. Faust vs. Gary Floyd: Compared To What CD
(Clearspot / EFA Records, Germany)
released February 2001 in Europe.
Very different colored front cover photo than the vinyl release, plus more songs and different mixes from the vinyl version. All of the same people appear as on the vinyl version, plus a remix by Kyle Statham from the band F*ck with his friends Anne & Nathalie from the Belgian band Moxie.
LP version was cut off around 14 minutes to fit on LP, CD version is the complete 20+ minutes of bliss.
+++ there is a hidden live bonus track at the end, titled "Jamming With Candy"
recorded on May 10th 2000 at the Tongue & Groove in San Francisco.
interesting to note, that despite hundreds of hours of Mushroom shows being
recorded for a possible and eventual live release during the past 4 years,
this is the first officially released live material.
